¿comó se dice? ¿comó se llama? OBAMA! OBAMA!
Aahhh super Tuesday…how will it end? I can say that I’ve googled Ron Paul (um, no), speculated about Hillary, wondered what Mc Cain keeps packed in those funny squirrel cheeks, and watched the Obama groupies cry in rallies like they’re at a Beatles concert (did I not mention Mit? oh yeah, that’s right I didn’t) and honestly I still don’t know where I’m going to put my pencil down come this November.
So even though I can say I’m currently candidate-agnostic, I have to admit that this morning I was incontrovertibly drawn to register at the latino-focused ‘amigosdeobama.com’ so that they’d send me my own VERY catchy obama-centric ring tone.
Now it’s not like I haven’t pimped out my personal email address for silly free stuff before, I’m definitely guilty as charged. I especially love ring tones. I’ve even bought some from the WWF (no Hulksters, I mean the World Wildlife Foundation) to benefit the welfare of endangered species, but I can honestly say I never dreamt I’d have one to advertise my completely insincere support of a presidential candidate.
I’m oddly gleeful to see staunch politics enter into my goofy daily ‘collecting free stuff on the internet’ routine, it really hits home, you know? First the races accept digital into its heart and accept that online conversations upset their top-down marketing, even initiating their own bottom-up conversations. Heck, they’ve even started saying “bottom-up,” that’s progress! We’ve come a long way, baby! Remember McCain vs. Mike Industries on Myspace? (a reminder: http://www.king5.com/sharedcontent/VideoPlayer/showVideo.php?vidId=131796)
Obama’s campaign denies any offilliation (which is a snappy new term I’ve just coined, short for “official affiliation”) with the website crying out for his support, but that doesn’t really seem to matter.
There’s something just so cool about that. It just makes me smile. That’s good, right?
It’s really quite a catchy tune! Hopefully the other candidates will declare “tiraera” and throw down with her own ring tones, then I can set them all to change when different people call. How awesome would that be?
…So even though it seems like I have a candidate all picked out, I guess I really don’t, especially with the official nominee for each party to be decided sometime after the polls close tonight. That’s cool, I’ve still got a some time to decide which way I’ll go. Today, I’ll just sit back, enjoy my paczki (punchkie) and wait for my phone to ring. What, what?
